After being a nurse for 30 years I decided to pursue my purpose.
Photography is my key to happiness, my way of loosing myself in this crazy world. It inspires me. It motivates me. I love doing it. it. I am self taught.
I love animals, adventure travel and working independently. I love doing what I uniquely good at. When people tell me my work is excellent or beautiful and better yet it moves them emotionally, I know I have done my job.
I fell into equine photography unconsciously. It started with my dogs. I loved photographing them and to photography them well and candidly in their natural environment I had to learn to shoot fast. The same goes for horses. When I started photographing horses and doing it well the WOW factor exploded in my photography. Moreover when I started photographing the wild horses which means going out into the wild in desolate places, I knew I found my true calling. I enjoy being out in the wilds completely alone or with one of my dogs tied to my belt loop.
I've always loved producing art in many different forms throughout my life but digital photography brings instant satisfaction. I could clearly define my style if I went with solely black and white or just color but I find it difficult to confine myself that way. Color brings vibrancy unifying the pieces of a composition creating picturesque images. Conversely the absence of color can draw attention to detail and pure light. I present my images and then let my audience do the judging.
Besides loving the art of photography itself I love horses. I believe horses are the most beautiful animal on the planet and are God's gift to mankind. They are are helpers, healers and teachers. At the start of civilization they helped man physically. Today they are here to help us emotionally. In my images I want people to see the horses intelligence, beauty, power and grace.
Presently I live in Northern California on a incredible piece of land in a sacred home of my own creation were I create my art. I am also a hobby breeder of English Golden Retrievers. I usually have at least four adult Golden's living at home at any given time not to mention a litter of puppies most years. I also have my two horses who I love to trail ride.
